ST. PAUL, Minn. --
Kendall Christian (FY, Moorhead, Minn.) scored her fifth goal of the season for Augsburg College, but the Auggies dropped a 3-1 decision to Hamline University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Friday evening at the Warner Coliseum.
Christian's goal came at the 19:58 mark of the third period for Augsburg (5-5-4 overall, 2-5-0 MIAC). Sam Berger, Jordan Verleye and Corinne Henning scored goals for Hamline (5-7-2 overall, 1-5-1 MIAC).
Hamline outshot Augsburg by a 39-27 margin. Auggie goalie
Brianna Schulz (FY, Prior Lake, Minn.) collected 36 saves for the Auggies, while Sarah Schneekloth had 26 saves for Hamline.
The Pipers scored twice in the second period, with Berger scoring from Erin Kastner and Jessica Kraus at the 8:38 mark, and Verleye scoring from Ashley Maskel at the 16:35 mark. Hamline scored at the 16:29 mark of the third period, as Henning scored an unassisted, shorthanded goal. Christian's unassisted goal in the final seconds of play completed the scoring.
Erica Berthold (JR, Issaquah, Wash.) and
Rachel Hennessy (FY, Williston, N.D.) had four shots on-goal each for Augsburg, while
Sara Rajewsky (FY, Murdock, Minn./Benson HS) had three shots.
The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (1/21) at 2 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.
