Auggies fall 3-0 to Hamline

VADNAIS HEIGHTS, Minn. -- Goalie Justin Lochner (JR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) collected 31 saves, but his Augsburg College men's hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to host Hamline University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon at the Vadnais Heights Sports Center.

Brian Arrigoni and Jordan VanGilder had a goal and assist each for Hamline (7-10-2 overall, 4-5-1 MIAC), with Cameron Stowers scoring the other Piper goal.

Augsburg (6-10-1 overall, 2-5-1 MIAC) outshot Hamline by a 35-34 margin. Ben McClellan (FY, Cottage Grove, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) and Trevor Doden (SR, Red Wing, Minn.) had six shots on-goal each for the Auggies, while Landon Olson (JR, Alexandria, Minn./Duluth Marshall HS) had three shots on-goal.

The Pipers scored two power-play goals in the second period, from Arrigoni and Stowers, to take a 2-0 lead. VanGilder's third-period goal completed the scoring.

Augsburg returns to MIAC play next weekend with a series against St. Mary's. Next Friday's (1/27) game is at 7:30 p.m. in Winona, Minn., and next Saturday's (1/28) game is at 7:05 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.
