ADRIAN, Mich. -- Goalie Briana Schulz (SO, Prior Lake, Minn.) came up with 42 saves in goal for Augsburg College in the Auggies' 4-0 loss to Adrian College in a nonconference women's hockey game on Saturday afternoon at the Arrington Ice Arena.
Schulz claimed 77 saves on 84 shots on the weekend for Augsburg (0-2-0 overall). Saturday's 42-save effort marked the 13th time in her 19 career starts that Schulz has had 35 or more saves in goal.
Kelsey Kusch and Alex Vallee had a goal and assist each for Adrian (2-0-0 overall), with Danielle Smith and Courtney Millar adding the other Adrian goals. Adrian outshot Augsburg by a 46-29 margin in the game, with Brittany Zeches recording 29 saves in goal for the Bulldogs.
Erica Berthold (SR, Issaquah, Wash.) and
Nicole Gorr (SR, Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South HS) had five shots-on-goal each for Augsburg, while
Rachel Hennessy (SO, Williston, N.D.) had four shots.
Augsburg has its home-opening series of the season next weekend at Ed Saugestad Rink, hosting Marian (Wis.) in a two-game series. Next Friday's (11/2) game is at 4:30 p.m., and next Saturday's (11/3) game is at 2 p.m.
