BOXSCORE RIVER FALLS, Wis. --
Emma Sievers (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) recorded a team-high 16 digs, but the Augsburg College volleyball team dropped a three-set nonconference match (25-18, 25-22, 25-19) to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Saturday afternoon at the Karges Center.
Augsburg (11-9 overall, 2-3 MIAC) fell behind early in the match, dropping the first two sets, before battling back in the third set. Both teams traded points throughout the third set, as the Auggies got within three points at 21-18, but the Falcons (16-6 overall, 3-1 WIAC) closed with a 4-1 run to win the set 25-19 and earn the match victory.
Sievers, claimed a match-best 16 digs while only recording two receiving errors in the match. Sievers currently ranks 11th among MInnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference participants in total digs this season with 269.
Tabby Roh (SO, LaCrosse, Wis./Central HS) led the Augsburg offensive attack with seven kills, while adding two blocks.
Ashley Peper (FY, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) and
Nikolene Miller (SR, Tomahawk, Wis.) added five kills each and two blocks each, while
Micha Sater (SR, Fridley, Minn./Centennial HS) added four kills and eight digs.
Emily McCourt (JR, Sun Prairie, Wis.) recorded 18 assists in the match, while also adding a team-best three solo blocks and one service ace.
For the Falcons, Erin Green (SR, Fridley, Minn.) claimed a match-best 14 kills, while teammate Jean Theis (JR, Shakopee, Minn.) added 11 kills and three blocks (one solo). Setter Mackenzie Suda (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine HS) collected a match-best 33 assists for the Falcons, who claimed a .224 to .072 hitting percentage advantage in the match.
The Auggies will return to action this Wednesday (10/10) with a crucial home match against MIAC rival Carleton College. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at Si Melby Hall.
