BOXSCORE ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Two goals in a 4:40 span in the second period provided the scoring St. Catherine University would need in a 2-0 victory over Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Saturday afternoon at Drake Ice Arena.
Brianna Schulz (SO, Prior Lake, Minn.) collected 26 saves in goal for Augsburg (1-5-0 overall, 0-2-0 MIAC), which was outshot by a 28-18 margin by St. Catherine (2-1-0 overall, 2-0-0 MIAC).
Alex Hall stopped all 18 shots she faced for the win for the Wildcats.
St. Catherine took the lead at the 3:53 mark of the second period on a goal by Bailey Rasmussen, assisted by Becky Clifton. The Wildcats extended the lead at the 8:33 mark of the period, when Nicki Mosbeck scored an unassisted goal.
Kendall Christian (SO, Moorhead, Minn.),
Rachel Hennessy (SO, Williston, N.D.) and
Kayla Fuechtmann (FY, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) had thre shots on-goal each for Augsburg, while
Diana Bocklund (SR, Pine Springs, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) had two shots.
Augsburg returns to action next weekend with a two-game MIAC series against St. Benedict. Next Friday's (11/16) game is at 7 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink, and next Saturday's (11/17) game is at 2 p.m. at the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud, Minn.
