Auggies fall 4-0 to St. Benedict

BOXSCORE ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- Brianna Schulz (SO, Prior Lake, Minn.) claimed 33 saves in goal for Augsburg College, but the College of St. Benedict used a three-goal outburst in the second period to claim a 4-0 win in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Saturday afternoon at the Municipal Athletic Complex.

St. Benedict (2-2-3 overall, 1-2-1 MIAC) outshot Augsburg (1-5-1 overall, 0-3-1 MIAC) by a 37-23 margin, including an 18-5 margin in the second period, when the Blazers scored three goals. Alli O'Brien had a goal and two assists for the Blazers, while Allyson Nielsen had a goal and assist.

Megan Brettingen opened the scoring for St. Benedict at the 2:36 mark of the first period, assisted by O'Brien. O'Brien then scored at the 5:52 mark of the second period, assisted by Nielsen. Nielsen scored from O'Brien at the 13:06 mark, and Siri Berg-Moberg scored from Tara Frey at the 18:41 mark.

Jeanna Dudley (SR, Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community HS) and Kayla Fuechtmann (FY, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) had four shots on-goal apiece, while Megan Bergland (FY, Thief River Falls, Minn.) and Sara Rajewsky (SO, Murdock, Minn./Benson HS) had three shots each.

Augsburg returns to action the weekend of Nov. 30-Dec. 1 with a conference series against Gustavus. The game on Nov. 30 is at 7 p.m. in St. Peter, Minn., with the game on Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.
