Auggie women fall 5-0 to Gusties

BOXSCORE ST. PETER, Minn. -- Brianna Schulz (SO, Prior Lake, Minn.) collected 38 saves in goal for Augsburg College in the Auggies' 5-0 loss to Gustavus Adolphus College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Friday evening at the Don Roberts Ice Rink.

Meagan Wanecke figured in four of the five goals for Gustavus (6-0-0 overall, 5-0-0 MIAC), scoring the first two goals of the game and assisting on the final two goals of the game. Gustavus entered this weekend as the No. 2-ranked team in the latest U.S. College Hockey Online Division III national poll.

Allison Eder-Zdechlik, Melissa Doyle and Kelly Thotland also scored goals for the Gusties. Maggie Bergh had two assists in the game.

Gustavus outshot Augsburg (1-7-1 overall, 0-4-1 MIAC) by a 43-13 margin, with Tara Hoverstad stopping all 13 shots she faced to pick up the win in goal for the Gusties.

Schulz claimed 38 saves, marking the fifth time this season that she has recorded 30-plus saves in a contest.

Kayla Fuechtmann (FY, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) had five shots on-goal in the game for Augsburg, while Kendall Christian (SO, Moorhead, Minn.) had three shots and Rachel Hennessy (SO, Williston, N.D.) had two shots.

The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (12/1) at 7 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.
