BOXSCORE MINNEAPOLIS -- Scoring all three goals on the power play, the St. Catherine University women's hockey team claimed a 3-2 victory over host Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Friday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.
Megan Kilmer (SO, Savage, Minn./Burnsville HS) had a goal and assist for St. Catherine (1-1-0 overall, 1-0-0 MIAC), while Bailey Rasmussen (SO, Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Katie Jirik (JR, Northfield, Minn.) also scored goals for the Wildcats.
Kayla Fuechtmann (FY, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) had a goal and assist for Augsburg (1-4-0 overall, 0-1-0 MIAC), while
Claire Cripps (FY, Hutchinson, Minn.) scored her first collegiate goal.
Rachel Hennessy (SO, Williston, N.D.) assisted on both Augsburg goals.
Four of the five goals in the game came on the power play. St. Catherine went 3-for-5 on the power play, while Augsburg went 1-for-4.
The Wildcats scored two power-play goals in the first period, as Rasmussen scored from Mallory Ryan (FY, Cottage Grove, Minn./Park HS) and Kilmer 4:43 into the game, and Kilmer scored from Ryan and Randi Fabsits (FY, Tinley Park, Ill./Victor J. Andrew HS) at the 14:20 mark.
But Augsburg tied the game with two goals in the first 7:38 of the second period. Fuechtmann scored from Hennessy 2:09 into the frame, and Cripps scored her first collegiate goal on the power play at the 7:38 mark, assisted by Hennessy and Fuechtmann.
St. Catherine went ahead with a power-play goal at the 9:07 mark of the third period, with Jirik scoring from Rachael Gasperetti (SR, Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI HS) and Maureen Ryan (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS).
Augsburg outshot St. Catherine by a 32-24 margin.
Alex Hall (JR, Burnsville, Minn.), in relief of starter Samantha Geissler (SO, Elk River, Minn.), had 19 saves to earn the win. Geissler had 11 saves. Augsburg goalie

The teams conclude the MIAC series on Saturday (11/10) at 2 p.m. at the Drake Ice Arena in St. Paul, Minn.
