BOXSCORE MINNEAPOLIS -- Niklas Almstrom (JR, Medina, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's HS) scored the lone goal of the game for Augsburg College, but the Auggies dropped a 2-1 decision to Concordia College-Moorhead in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey game on Friday night at Ed Saugestad Rink.

Almstrom scored from Derek Loisel (JR, Coon Rapids, Minn.) and Zach Dick (SO, Grand Rapids, Minn.) at the 12:41 mark of the second period for Augsburg (3-10-1 overall, 1-4-0 MIAC) to tie the game at 1-1, but Concordia (7-8-1 overall, 4-3-0 MIAC) took the lead for good 2:32 later, when Tucker Coborn (FY, Park Rapids, Minn.) scored from Jordie Bancroft (FY, Grand Forks, N.D.) and Dmitry Kalashnikov (FY, Saratov, Russia).

The Cobbers took an early lead at the 4;41 mark of the first period, when Trent Johnson (JR, Moorhead, Minn.) scored from Joe Becker (JR, Moorhead, Minn.) and Dan Hrabowych (JR, East St. Paul, Manitoba).

Augsburg outshot Concordia by a 43-35 margin, but Cobber goalie Chris Neamonitis (JR, Montreal, Quebec) stopped 42 shots to pick up the victory. Augsburg goalie Justin Lochner (SR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) had 33 saves in a losing effort.

#B.J. McClellan# (JR, Cottage Grove, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) had seven shots on-goal for Augsburg, while Almstrom, Ben McClellan (SO, Cottage Grove, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS0, Mack Ohnsted (FY, Vernon Hills, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson HS) and Thomas Paine (SO, Superior, Wis./Duluth (Minn.) Marshall HS) had four shots each.

The two teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (1/12) at 2:05 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink. The Auggies' annual "Skate With The Auggies" event will follow the game, when fans are invited to skate with the Augsburg squad.
