BOXSCORE BLAINE, Minn. --
Sandra Hinz (SR, Stockholm, Sweden/Solna Gymnasium HS) and
Nicole Gorr (SR, Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South HS) scored goals 64 seconds apart early in the second period, lifting Augsburg College to a 2-1 victory over host Bethel University in a nonconference women's hockey game on Friday night at the Schwan SuperRink.
Hinz scored an unassisted goal, her first goal of the season, at the 1:29 mark of the second period, and Gorr scored her second goal of the season, assisted by
Megan Bergland (FY, Thief River Falls, Minn.), at the 2:33 mark.
With the win, Augsburg improved to 4-8-1 on the season and extended its winning streak to three straight games. Bethel dropped to 6-5-1 overall.
The Royals cut the lead on a power-play goal from Lindsay Burman, assisted by Cristina Masten, at the 14:42 mark of the third period.
Augsburg goalie
Brianna Schulz (SO, Prior Lake, Minn.) collected 36 saves in goal, as Bethel outshot Augsburg by a 37-16 margin in the game. Bethel goalie Jess Newstrom had 14 saves.
Rachel Hennessy (SO, Williston, N.D.) and
Kayla Fuechtmann (FY, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) had three shots on-goal each for the Auggies.
Augsburg returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action next weekend with a series against Hamline. The Auggies host the Pipers next Friday (1/18) at 7 p.m., and the Pipers host the series finale at the State Fairgrounds Coliseum next Saturday (1/19) at 2 p.m.
