Landon Olson (SR, Alexandria, Minn./Duluth Marshall HS) scored two goals for Augsburg College, but the Auggies dropped a 6-2 decision to Concordia College-Moorhead in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey game on Saturday afternoon at Ed Saugestad Rink.
Jordie Bancroft (FY, Grand Forks, N.D.) scored two goals and had an assist for Concordia (8-8-1 overall, 5-3-0 MIAC) in the victory, while Ben Payne (SR, Maple Ridge, B.C.) also had a two-goal afternoon. Caleb Suderman (JR, Winkler, Manitoba) and Adam Wiertzema (FY, Breckenridge, Minn.) had the other Cobber goals.
Augsburg outshot Concordia by a 41-24 margin in the game, but Cobber goalie Chris Neamonitis (JR, Montreal, Quebec) came up with 39 saves in the victory.
Justin Lochner (SR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) had 18 saves in a losing effort.
The Cobbers scored twice in each period, with Bancroft and Payne scoring goals in both the first and second periods.
Olson scored his first goal of the game from #B.J. McClellan# (JR, Cottage Grove, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) at the 8:55 mark of the second period, and scored his second goal of the game from
Derek Loisel (JR, Coon Rapids, Minn.) and
Mack Ohnsted (FY, Vernon Hills, Ill./Adali E. Stevenson HS) at the 7:33 mark of the final frame.
Augsburg returns to MIAC play next weekend with a series against Hamline. Next Friday's (1/18) game is at 7:15 p.m. at the Vadnais Heights (Minn.) Sports Center, and next Saturday's (1/19) game is at 7:05 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.
