Auggies drop 4-2 decision at St. Scholastica

BOXSCORE DULUTH, Minn. -- Ben McClellan (SO, Cottage Grove, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) and Lucas Hendrickson (FY, Savage, Minn./Burnsville HS) scored unassisted goals for Augsburg College, but the host College of St. Scholastica scored the game's final two goals in a 4-2 victory in a nonconference men's hockey game on Friday night at the Mars Lakeview Arena.

McClellan scored an unassisted, shorthanded goal midway through the first period, and Hendrickson scored an unassisted power-play goal at the 10:15 mark of the second period, as Augsburg (3-9-1 overall) rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to tie the game.

But St. Scholastica (4-9-0 overall) took the lead back just 65 seconds after Hendrickson's goal, as Brenden Kotyk scored a power-play goal from Dylan Nowakowski. Cody Danychuk added an even-strength goal, also assisted by Nowakowski, at the 12:49 mark of the third period to cap the scoring.

The Saints took an early lead with two goals in the first 4:20 of play. Tyler Miller scored from Brett Corcoran at the 2:02 mark, and Alex Valenti scored from Miller and Corcoran 2:18 later.

McClellan now has a team-high six goals and 11 points this season for the Auggies, while Hendrickson now has two goals on the year.
