Berthold scores twice in Auggie 3-0 victory

MINNEAPOLIS -- Erica Berthold (SR, Issaquah, Wash.) scored two second-period goals, leading the Augsburg College women's hockey team in a 3-0 victory over Finlandia University (Mich.) in a nonconference contest on Sunday afternoon at Ed Saugestad Rink.

Berthold claimed her second multi-goal game of her career, scoring at the 6:55 mark from Jeanna Dudley (SR, Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community HS) and Casey Miller (SO, Bemidji, Minn.), and adding an unassisted goal at the 19:27 mark.

Claire Cripps (FY, Hutchinson, Minn.) scored from Abigail Dickinson (FY, Rochester Hills, Mich./Adams HS) and
Megan Bergland (FY, Thief River Falls, Minn.) at the 8:32 mark of the second period for Augsburg (3-8-1 overall), 

Augsburg outshot Finlandia (0-12-0 overall) by a 65-12 margin in the game. Finlandia goalie Breanna Hynes (FY, Victoria, B.C.) had 62 saves in a losing effort. Brianna Schulz (SO, Prior Lake, Minn.) stopped all 12 shots she faced to record her first collegiate career shutout for the Auggies.

On the weekend, Augsburg outshot Finlandia by a 115-24 margin in claiming the nonconference sweep, which included a record-setting 13-0 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Augsburg returns to action next Friday (1/11) at 7 p.m. with a nonconference game against Bethel University at the Schwan SuperRink in Blaine, Minn.
