Auggies shut out Falcons 2-0 for series split

BOXSCORE MEQUON, Wis. -- Darby Lindgren (FY, Lakeville, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) scored the first two goals of her career, and goalie Brianna Schulz (JR, Prior Lake, Minn.) stopped all 20 shots she faced for her third collegiate shutout, as the Augsburg College women's hockey team scored a 2-0 win over Concordia University-Wisconsin in a nonconference contest on Sunday afternoon at the Ozaukee Ice Center.

Augsburg (1-1-0 overall) claimed a 32-20 shots on-goal advantage over Concordia (3-1-0 overall), including a 24-11 advantage through the first two periods. Schulz stopped all 20 shots she faced on Sunday, part of a weekend effort where she had 53 saves in facing 56 shots (.946 save percentage).

Lindgren opened the scoring for the Auggies with a power-play goal, assisted by Kimmy Davis (FY, Niles, Ill./Resurrection College Prep HS) and Ashley Kloncz (FY, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS), at the 15:46 mark of the first period. Lindgren added her second goal of the game at the 9:10 mark, scoring from Kayla Fuechtmann (SO, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS).

Davis joined Lindgren with two-point weekends in their first collegiate hockey games, as Davis scored a goal in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Falcons.

Fuechtmann and Brenna Nakonechny (SO, Grand Forks, N.D./Red River HS) had five shots on-goal each for the Auggies, while Lindgren, Claire Cripps (SO, Hutchinson, Minn.) and Danielle Heitkamp (FY, Grand Rapids, Minn.) had four shots on-goal each.

Jennifer DeGeorge had 30 saves in goal for Concordia.

Augsburg opens Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play next weekend with a series against Bethel. Next Friday's (11/15) game is at 7 p.m. at the Schwan SuperRink in Blaine, Minn., and next Saturday's (11/16) game is at 3:30 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.
