Auggies drop 6-2 decision to Bethel

BOXSCORE BLAINE, Minn. -- Callen Naasz (FY, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) and Danielle Heitkamp (FY, Grand Rapids, Minn.) scored their first collegiate goals on Friday night for Augsburg College in a 6-2 loss to host Bethel University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey contest on Friday evening at the Schwan SuperRink.

Naasz scored an unassisted goal for the Auggies at the 7:06 mark of the second period, and Heitkamp scored a power-play goal from Ashley Kloncz (FY, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) and Kimmy Davis (FY, Niles, Ill./Resurrection College Prep HS) at the 13:10 mark of the third period.

Augsburg drops to 1-2-0 overall, 0-1-0 in MIAC play with the loss, while Bethel improves to 2-1-0 overall, 1-0-0 in MIAC play.

Christina Masten had a four-point night for the Royals, scoring three goals, including a power-play marker and a shorthanded goal, and adding an assist. Kathryn Larson had two goals for Bethel, and Kalie Johnson had a goal and an assist. Lindsay Burman had two assists for the Royals.

Bethel outshot Augsburg by a 26-22 margin in the game. Brianna Schulz (JR, Prior Lake, Minn.) had 20 saves in goal for the Auggies, while Erika Allen had 20 saves for the Royals.

Rachel Hennessy (JR, Williston, N.D.) had five shots on-goal for Augsburg, while Claire Cripps (SO, Hutchinson, Minn.) had four shots and Kayla Fuechtmann (SO, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) had three shots.

The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (11/16) at 3:30 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.
