Auggies fall 4-0 to Bethel

BOXSCORE MINNEAPOLIS -- Brianna Schulz (JR, Prior Lake, Minn.) came up with 28 saves in goal for the Augsburg College women's hockey team in a 4-0 loss to visiting Bethel University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Ed Saugestad Rink.

Bethel (3-1-0 overall, 2-0-0 MIAC) claimed a 32-9 advantage in shots on-goal over Augsburg (1-3-0 overall, 0-2-0 overall), including a 12-1 edge in the first period. Erika Allen (SO, Roseville, Minn.) stopped all nine shots she faced in goal for the Royals.

Cristina Masten (SR, Fergus Falls, Minn.) had a goal and an assist for the Royals, scoring an unassisted, shorthanded goal in the first period. Kalie Johnson (JR, Richfield, Minn.) had two assists for the Royals. Caroline Kivisto (SO, Dassel, Minn./Dassel-Cokato HS) scored from Johnson at the 10:03 mark of the second period, followed 4:09 later by an unassisted goal by Erin Harper (SO, Blaine, Minn.). Karly Vohden (FY, Faribanks, Alaska/West Valley HS) capped the scoring with a power-play goal from Johnson and Masten in the third period.

Rachel Hennessy (JR, Williston, N.D.) and Kelsey Lyngdal (FY, Plymouth, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) had two shots on-goal each for Augsburg.

Augsburg returns to MIAC action next weekend with a series against St. Catherine. Next Friday's (11/22) game is at 7 p.m. at the Drake Ice Arena in St. Paul, Minn., and next Saturday's (11/23) game is at 7:30 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.
