BOXSCORE MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Concordia College women's basketball team used a 14-0 run midway through the second half to pull away from Augsburg College in what was a hotly contested game until that point. The Cobbers went on to claim a 79-59 victory over the Auggies in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night at Memorial Auditorium.
Augsburg (2-3 overall, 0-3 MIAC)Â matched Concordia (5-2 overall, 3-1 MIAC) basket for basket during the first half and went into the locker room at the intermission down just 32-30. The Auggies came out and scored on three of their first four possessions to take a 37-35 lead. The teams continued to trade baskets with Augsburg trailing just 46-45 with 13:58 remaining. Concordia proceeded to go on a 14-0 run that the Auggies couldn't rally back from as the Cobbers crusied on to the 79-59 victory.
Augsburg was led by
Jill Tichy (SR, Excelsior, Minn./Minnetonka HS), who finished with 16 points -- her fourth double-digit scoring performance this season. Also scoring in double figures for the Auggies wasÂ
Jessica Lillquist (SO, Sebeka, Minn./Sebeka HS), who finished with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor, while adding a team-high eight rebounds.
Concordia was led by Alley Fisher, who finished with a game- and season-high 26 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the floor.
For the game, Augsburg shot 37.9 percent (22-of-58) from the field, while Concordia shot a season-best 54.7 percent (29-of-53). The Cobbers claimed a 36-31 advantage on the boards and were able to hit 6-of-18 from beyond the three-point arc, while the Auggies only could convert on 2-of-11.
Augsburg and Concordia both return to action on Saturday (12/14) at 3 p.m. The Auggies will host the College of St. Scholastica in a nonconference matchup, while the Cobbers make the trip to St. Paul, Minn. to take on Hamline University in MIAC action.
