BOXSCORE MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College men's hockey team closed its 2012-13 season with a 3-0 loss to the University of St. Thomas in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Saturday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.
The game was the final collegiate contest for Augsburg seniors Jonathan Barrick (SR, Litchfield, Minn.),
Loren Egan (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Totino-Grace HS),
Justin Lochner (SR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) and
Landon Olson (SR, Alexandria, Minn./Duluth Marshall HS).
Lochner appeared in goal in 88 games in his Augsburg carer, winning 36 games and recording two shutouts, with a .911 career save percentage and 2.80 career goals-against-average. Olson appeared in 68 games in his Augsburg career, scoring 10 goals with 10 assists for 20 points. Egan appeared in 67 games in his Augsburg career, scoring four goals with four assists for eight points. Barrick appeared in 40 games in his Augsburg career, scoring two goals with three assists for five points.
Augsburg (8-14-3 overall, 6-8-2 MIAC) was outshot by a 32-22 margin to St. Thomas (13-10-2 overall, 10-5-1 MIAC), which claimed a share of the MIAC regular-season championship and the top seed in the upcoming MIAC postseason playoffs. Lochner had 29 saves in goal for Augsburg, while Drew Fielding (SO, Burlington, Ontario) stopped all 22 shots he faced for the shutout win for the Tommies.
Michael Krieg (SO, Phoenix, Ariz.) opened the scoring for the Tommies with a goal from Spencer Brendel (SR, Sun Valley, Idaho) and Travis Baker (SR, New Brighton, Minn.) at the 5:58 mark of the first period, followed by an unassisted goal by Alex Altenbernd (SO, Moorhead, Minn.) at the 15:50 mark. Tyler Gubb (JR, Markham, Ontario) capped the scoring for the Tommies with a power-play goal from Connor McBride (FY, Hartland, Wis.) at the 10:27 mark of the second period.
Tim Serratore (JR, Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek HS) had four shots on-goal for Augsburg, while
Carl Krieger (FY, Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) had three shots.
