BOXSCORE MOORHEAD, Minn. --
Claire Cripps (FY, Hutchinson, Minn.) scored a shorthanded goal for Augsburg College in the first period, but a Concordia College-Moorhead goal broke the tie in the third period, as the Cobbers claimed a 2-1 victory in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Saturday afternoon at the Moorhead Sports Center.
Cripps scored her fifth goal of the season for the Auggies (6-16-3 overall, 2-13-3 MIAC), a shorthanded goal assisted by
Jessica Larkin (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS), at the 13:12 mark of the first period to tie the game at 1-1.
But Concordia (12-7-5 overall, 11-4-3 MIAC) took the lead 4:52 into the third period, when Kelsey Vandegrift scored a power-play goal from Jenna Westerham. The Cobbers also scored at the 9:32 mark of the first period, when Breann Julius scored from Libby Fransdal.
Concordia claimed a 47-18 advantage in shots on-goal in the game, but Augsburg goalie
Brianna Schulz (SO, Prior Lake, Minn.) kept the Auggies in the contest, collecting 45 saves. The game was her 13th this season with 30-plus saves, and her fifth with 40-plus saves.
Brenna Nakonechny (FY, Grand Forks, N.D./Red River HS) had four shots on-goal for the Auggies, while Larkin had three shots, and Cripps and
Kendall Christian (SO, Moorhead, Minn.) had two shots each.
The game was the final collegiate contest for seven Augsburg seniors: Larkin,
