MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College wrestling team scored three match victories in a 26-9 dual meet loss to NCAA Division II Augustana College (S.D.) on Friday night at Si Melby Hall.

Augsburg, the No. 4-ranked team in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national rankings, fell to 5-4 with the dual loss, while Augustana improved to 9-4 on the season.

Rashad Kennedy (JR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) opened the team scoring for the Auggies, posting an exciting 3-1 overtime victory over Augustana's Shawn Hatlestad (SO, New London, Minn./New London-Spicer HS).

Also claiming an individual victory for the Auggies was Tommy Teigen (JR, Ham Lake, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian HS), who posted a 2-0 victory over Jeff Nielsen (JR, Zimmerman, Minn.).

In the only meeting of ranked wrestlers, Augsburg's Matt Hechsel (JR, Apple Valley, Minn.), ranked No. 2 nationally at 197, suffered a hard fought 3-0 loss to Jayd Docken (JR, Winner, S.D.), who was ranked No. 4 and had only one loss on the season.

Augsburg won the final bout of the evening as No. 1-ranked heavyweight Chad Johnson (SR, Ferryville, Wis./DeSoto HS) posted at 7-2 decision over Michael Lowman (FY, North Highlands, Calif,/Foothill HS).

Augsburg returns to action on Sunday when the Auggies travel to Collegeville, Minn. to take on MIAC rival Saint John's University in dual meet action beginning at 1 p.m.
