Auggies claim 2-0 victory over UW-Eau Claire

BOXSCORE EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- Scoring two second-period goals, the Augsburg College women's hockey team claimed its fifth win in its last six starts with a 2-0 triumph over the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in nonconference action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Callen Naasz(SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) got the Auggies on the board, scoring at the 4:58 mark of the second period, on assists by Ashley Kloncz (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) and Rachel Hennessy (SR, Williston, N.D.).
• Claire Cripps (JR, Hutchinson, Minn.) scored her third goal of the season at the 19:58 mark of the second period with assists credited to Brenna Nakonechny (JR, Grand Forks, N.D./Red River HS) and Kloncz.
• Hennessy led the Auggies with five shots on goal, while Kayla Fuechtmann (JR, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) had four.
• Augsburg's penalty kill held the Blugolds to 0-7 on the power play.

• UW-Eau Claire outshot Augsburg by a 26-22 margin in the game.
• Making her second collegiate start in goal, Rebecca Sonnek (FY, Edina, Minn.) had 22 saves to pick up her first shutout and second victory of the season.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg has now won five of its last six games.

FOR THE FOES
• Andi Husted and Jaedyn Walz both had four shots apiece to lead UW-Eau Claire.
• Shania Johnson had 24 saves in goal for the Blugolds.
