NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Raeann Sorenson (JR, Brooten, Minn./Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa HS (Ridgewater CC)) tied an Augsburg career-high with 21 points to lead the Auggie women's basketball team to a 65-58 victory over Carleton College in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athltic Conference opener for both squads.

RECORDS: Augsburg 1-0 MIAC (5-2 overall), Carleton 0-1 MIAC (0-5 overall)HOW IT HAPPENED• After trailing 32-29 at the half, the Augsburg women's basketball team used a 63.2 percent (12-of-19) shooting effort in the second half to claim a victory in its MIAC opener. The Auggies used a key 8-0 run approaching the midwaypoint of the second half, to build a 51-43 lead, an advantage the Auggies would never relinquish. Augsburg connected on 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the final minute to seal the victory.
• The contest featured five tied scores and 11 lead changes.
• Augsburg was able to connect on a season-high 18 free throws in the game.
• Sorenson matched her Ausburg career-high with 21 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the floor and a perfect 8-of-8 performance at the free throw line. She added three rebounds, three steals and an assist to her stat line.
• Also scoring in double figures for the Auggies was Bridget Bednar (FY, Pierz, Minn./Pierz HS), who posted 11 points on a 4-of-6 shooting on the evening.
• The Auggies forced 13 turnovers, while picking up 10 steals.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 46.7 percent (21-of-45) from the field and was able to claim a 33-27 advantage on the boards.FOR THE FOES• The Knights finished with three players in double figures, led by Nnenna Ezem, who scored 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor, while adding eight rebounds and four steals.
