Anfinson hits career-high 13, Augsburg falls to Concordia

BOXSCORE MINNEAPOLIS --  Ashley Anfinson (SO, Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS) scored a career-high 13 points to lead the Augsburg College women's basketball team in a 79-40 loss to Concordia College-Moorhead in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Monday night at Si Melby Hall.

Augsburg (8-10 overall, 5-10 MIAC) was led by Anfinson's 13 point effort on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor, including 3-for-4 from beyond the arc, while adding two rebounds. Jill Tichy (SR, Excelsior, Minn./Minnetonka HS) recorded a game-high four assists for the Auggies and Jessica Lillquist (SO, Sebeka, Minn.) led the Augsburg with five rebounds and added six points.

Concordia (15-4 overall, 13-3 MIAC) finished with three players in double figures, led by Alexandra Lippert, who posted a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double leading the Cobbers to the win.

The Cobbers grabbed the opening bucket of the evening and never looked back. Concordia held a 37-14 lead at the intermission and utilized its depth and size to cruise on to a 79-40 victory over the Auggies.

For the game, Augsburg shot 26.0 percent (13-of-50) from the field, while Concordia converted on 47.3 percent (26-of-55) of its shots. The Cobbers claimed a 48-24 advantage on the boards and were able to outscore the Auggies 18-2 in second chance points.

Augsburg returns to action on Wednesday (2/5) at 7:30 p.m., hosting the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at Si Melby Hall.
