Auggie women's soccer opens with 8-0 triumph

MINNEAPOLIS -- Marie Fitzgerald (JR, Fort Atkinson, Wis.) scored two goals in the first half and Kaitlyn Terrio (SO, Andover, Minn./Anoka HS) scored twice in the second half, leading Augsburg College to an 8-0 win over the University of Wisconsin-Superior in a nonconference women's soccer game on Friday night at Edor Nelson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 4:36 of the game, as Augsburg scored twice in a 29-second span. Taylor Kuramoto (SR, Rochester, Minn./John Marshall HS) scored an unassisted goal on a floater from 30 yards out to the top left corner at the 4:07 mark, and Carter Denison (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) scored on an assist from Molly Allen (SR, Stillwater, Minn.) at the 4:37 mark.
• Fitzgerald scored the next two goals for the Auggies, completing a drive by Kuramoto and Marta Anderson () at the 14:59 mark and putting home a goal following a run from Olivia Muyres (SR, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS) and Kuramoto at the 20:43 mark.
• Morgan Kenny (SO, Milwaukee, Wis./Brookfield Central HS) capped the first-half scoring for the Auggies with a goal from Muyres and Abi Rodstein (SR, Eagan, Minn.) at the 28:03 mark.
• Terrio scored her first two collegiate goals of her career in the second half, scoring at the 67:46 mark from Molly Lamovec (FY, Eden Prairie, Minn.), and at the 83:00 mark from Kenny and Lamovec.
• Ashley Waalen (SO, Amery, Wis.) also scored her first collegiate goal, scoring an unassisted goal at the 82:05 mark.
• Augsburg outshot UW-Superior by a 31-4 mark, including a 23-1 advantage in the first half.
• Lucy Bukowski (JR, Two Harbors, Minn.) and Marissa Guillou (FY, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) combined for the win in goal for Augsburg, with Bukowski recording one save in the first half and Guillou collecting two saves in the second half.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The two-goal effort was Fitzgerald's third of her career and her fourth career four-point effort. She also scored two goals in a 10-1 win at UW-Superior on Aug. 30, 2013.
• Kuramoto's four-point effort was her highest single-game effort in her three seasons at Augsburg, and her third multi-point effort in her 39 games as an Auggie.
• Kenny's three-point effort (a goal and assist) tied her career high for points, when she had a goal and assist in a 6-0 win at Northwestern-St. Paul on Sept. 10, 2013.
• Lamovec recorded a two-assist effort in her first collegiate game.
• Augsburg's 31 shots were its most since a 34-shot effort in a 6-0 win at Northwestern-St. Paul on Sept. 10, 2013.
• Twenty-three of the 24 Auggies who dressed for the game saw significant game action; every player played at least 21 minutes and none more than 67 minutes.

• Bailey Henderson (FY, Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) claimed nine saves in goal for UW-Superior.
• Katelyn Adams (SR, Two Harbors, Minn.) had two shots for the Yellowjackets, while Shelby Coombs (JR, Anaheim, Calif./Magnolia HS) and Lily Marcelius (SO, Minnetonka, Minn.) each had shots.
