Auggies win five-set thriller at Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Augsburg College's dynamic duo of Ashley Peper (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) and Colleen Ourada (SR, Omaha, Neb./Mercy HS) combined for 51 kills -- Peper with 31 and Ourada with 20 -- leading the Auggies in a five-set victory at Carleton College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Peper claimed a career-high 31 kills, to go along with 14 digs for her fifth kill-dig double-double of the season and third in her last four matches. Peper hit .393, with seven errors in a a career-high 61 attack attempts.
• Ourada set a career high with 24 digs, to go along with 20 kills, three blocks and a service ace. She hit .298, with just three attack errors in 57 attempts.
• Libero Mackensie Menke (SR, Prior Lake, Minn./Shakopee HS) tied a career best with 25 digs, while also contributing a service ace.

• Setter Courtney Lemke (SO, Brownton, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake HS) claimed her sixth assist-dig double-double of the season, and third in a row, with a career-high 59 assists, to go along with 13 digs.
• Jessica Lillquist (JR, Sebeka, Minn.) recorded eight kills and two blocks for the Auggies, while Taylor Linn (FY, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) had four kills and five blocks, Jaelyn Arndt (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) had four kills and three blocks, and DeeDee Maier (SO, Middleton, Wis.) had 16 digs.
• Augsburg jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the deciding set before Carleton rallied to tie the match at 8-8. But Augsburg outscored Carleton 7-2 the rest of the way, with three kills by Ourada in the final stretch, to claim the match win.


BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• With her three blocks, Ourada is now one block shy of tying Augsburg's career record for total blocks, 294 by Nikolene Miller (2009-12). Ourada has 293 total blocks. She ranks second in school history with 85 solo blocks and third in school history with 208 block assists.
• Her 20-kill, 24-dig performance marked a career first for Ourada -- her first time recording 20-plus kills and 20-plus digs in a single match. It's her 40th career kill-dig double-double.

• Peper recorded her 30th career kill-dig double-double and ninth match with 20 or more kills in her career.
• Augsburg hit .249 as a team, including a .390 attack percentage in the third set. Carleton hit .189 in the match, but hit .333 in the fourth set to force the deciding frame.
• There were 30 ties and 12 lead changes in the match.


FOR THE FOES
• Karen Halls recorded 23 kills and six blocks (one solo) to lead Carleton, while Lucy Stevens had 17 kills and three blocks (one solo) and Lexi Papke had 10 kills and five blocks.
• Alicia Flatt recorded 55 assists and 19 digs, while Camille Benson had 39 digs.
