Auggies claim first win of season

MINNEAPOLIS -- Ben Henry (SO, Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln HS) scored the lone goal of the game in the 31st minute, as his Augsburg College men's soccer team claimed its first victory of the season, a 1-0 triumph over the University of Minnesota Morris in nonconference action on Friday night at Edor Nelson Field.

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Augsburg 1, Minnesota Morris 0
LOCATION: Edor Nelson Field, Minneapolis
RECORDS: Augsburg 1-3-0, Minnesota Morris 1-2-0

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Henry converted a free kick by Casey Powell (SR, Burnsville, Minn.) at the 30:51 mark to give the Auggies a 1-0 lead.
• Augsburg outshot Minnesota Morris by a 20-10 margin, including a 13-5 margin in the second half, as it kept the pressure on the Cougars to preserve the lead.

FOR THE FOES

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH GREG HOLKER
• "Securing a clean sheet was our top priority and the guys held firm. We were tested a few times -- especially at the end of the match, but we didn't break."
• "Ben Henry was really good tonight -- much improved over his previous performances. It's no surprise he scored off a set piece -- it's what he does extremely well."
• "Jason Scheeler (FY, Blaine, Minn.) was tremendous again today, covering ground in both directions and providing a spark in the attack. Paired with Grant Griffin (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS), we are getting some explosive play on the flanks. Grant was a handful tonight."
• "It was great to get Ngochinyan Ollor (JR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) back in the team as well. The addition of he and Edi Becerra (SR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Minneapolis Southwest HS) in the past few days has really given us a lift. We are just waiting for our captain to get back and then we will have our full team -- hopefully prior to Sept. 17 (opening of conference play).
