Auggies fall 2-1 at Concordia

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Megan Bergland (JR, Thief River Falls, Minn.) scored her first goal of the season, the lone goal for Augsburg College in a 2-1 loss to host Concordia College-Moorhead in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey contest on Saturday afternoon at the Moorhead Youth Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Bergland scored the first goal of the game at the 10:54 mark of the first period, assisted by Ellie Schaaf (SR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS). It was the first points of the season for both Begland and Schaaf.
• Concordia rallied for the second straight game against the Auggies, scoring a goal in each of the next two periods.
• Concordia outshot Augsburg by a 25-24 margin. Erika Allen (JR, Roseville, Minn.) had 23 saves in goal for Augsburg.
Halie Gudmonson (SO, Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) and Kayla Fuechtmann (JR, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) had three shots on-goal each for Augsburg.


FOR THE FOES
• Madison Gendreau scored from Hannah Johnston at the 2:30 mark of the second period to tie the game for Concordia.
• Amber Schaack scored the eventual game-winning goal for the Cobers, scoring from Jessica Kongelf at the 12:18 mark of the third period.

• Andrea Klug had 23 saves in goal for Concordia.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg faces St. Thomas in an MIAC series next weekend. Next Friday's (1/30) game is at 7 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink, and next Saturday's (1/31) game is at 2 p.m. at the St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights, Minn.
