Augsburg falls to St. Thomas in MIAC semifinal

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Jessica Lillquist (JR, Sebeka, Minn./Sebeka HS) led the Augsburg College women's basketball team in a loss to top-seeded University of St. Thomas in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoff semifinal action on Thursday night at Schoenecker Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but that would be the Auggies' only lead of the evening as No. 2-ranked St. Thomas remained unbeaten on the year.
• Lillquist led the Auggies with 14 points on a 6-of-10 shooting from the floor, while adding a rebound and an assist.
• Bridget Bednar (FY, Pierz, Minn./Pierz HS), Abbey Luger (SR, Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) and Jenna Orth (JR, Melrose, Minn./Melrose HS) finished with six points apiece for the Auggies.

• For the game, Augsburg shot 35.9 percent (14-of-39) from the floor, while St. Thomas connected on 55.0 percent (22-of-40) of its shot attempts.
• St. Thomas claimed a 30-17 advantage on the boards.
• Augsburg forced a season-high 22 St. Thomas turnovers, and claimed a 14-8 advantage in steals.


FOR THE FOES
• St. Thomas finished with a pair of players in double figures, led by Katie Stone, who finished with 19 points.
• The Tommies connected on 55.0 percent (11-of-20) from 3-point range.

• The Auggies qualified for the MIAC postseason playoffs for the first time in school history.
