Auggies dominate for third win in a row

MINNEAPOLIS -- Rachel Frantz (SO, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) scored three goals and added two assists, as the Augsburg College women's lacrosse team scored its third victory in a row, with a 21-1 triumph over the Illinois Institute of Technology on Sunday morning at Edor Nelson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Outshooting Illinois Tech by a 40-8 margin, the Auggies scored the first 14 goals of the game, not allowing an Illinois Tech score over the first 32:13 of play.
• Frantz scored two goals and added an assist in each half for the Auggies, giving her 10 goals and six assists on the season.

elena Nguyen (FY, Maple Grove, Minn.) and Ashley Pettipiece (FY, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) scored three goals each.
• Dezera Sieracki (SO, Wyoming, Minn./Centennial HS) and Lexi Halvorson (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) scored two goals each, and Rachel Dvorak (FY, Stoughton, Wis.) had a goal and an assist.
• Emily Wirtz (SO, Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park HS), Nicole Szczeback (SO, Goodyear, Minn./Desert Edge HS), Jesse Heusinkveld (FY, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) and Katie Luschwitz (SO, Whitney Point, N.Y.) also scored goals for the Auggies.

• Augsburg claimed 20 ground balls to Illinois Tech's four in the game, and also went 20-of-22 on clearing attempts, compared to 10-of-21 for Illinois Tech.
• Augsburg also converted on 6-of-10 free-position attempts in the game.
• Halvorson had eight draw controls and three ground balls in the game, while Everett had seven draw controls, nine ground balls and five caused turnovers. Sieracki had thee ground balls and three caused turnovers. 

• Goalie Marissa Guillou (FY, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) had six saves in the win.

• Everett now leads the team in both goals (23) and points (26), along with leading the team in free-position goals (six), ground balls (24) and caused turnovers (18). Her 32 draw controls are second-best on the team.
• Nguyen now has 20 goals and 23 points on the season, with five free-position goals.
• Pettipiece now has 19 goals and 23 points, with 11 ground balls and four free-position goals.
• Halvorson leads the team with 43 draw controls on the season.


FOR THE FOES
• Florencia Carrerou scored the lone goal of the game for the Scarlet Hawks on a free-position marker.
• Briana Villagrana had 10 saves in goal.
