ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -- Andrew Julkowski (JR, Cedar, Minn./St. Francis HS) drove in two runs, one of four Augsburg College players with two hits in the opening game, as the Auggies scored a 7-1 win over Bethel University in the opener of a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader at Bethel University on Wednesday afternoon. • Bryce Pruzinske (JR, Savage, Minn./Burnsville HS) hit an RBI double in the first inning as part of his two-hit performance.
• Tyler "Jonesy" Buescher (SO, Prior Lake, Minn.) hit an RBI single in the second inning, and Scott Livermore (JR, Stillwater, Minn.) scored on a wild pitch.
• Two more runs came across in the seventh inning, as Abe Welckle (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) hit the second of his two doubles in the game. After a sacrifice fly RBI by Jack Duffy (SO, Fridley, Minn./DeLaSalle HS), Welckle came across on a single by Rhett Hebig (SO, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS). Hebig also had two hits in the game.•
Jordan Petschke (SR, Fairmont, Minn.) picked up the pitching win, striking out one while walking one and allowing five hits in five innings of work. The lone run scored by the Royals in the game was unearned.
Lincoln Hochmuth (SO, Cannon Falls, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) pitched two innings of scoreless relief, striking out two.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS• Bethel scored three runs in the second inning and four runs in the third inning to take a 7-2 lead. Another run came across for the Royals in the sixth inning before the game was halted due to darkness on Wednesday.
• Augsburg rallied to tie the game at 8-8 when the game was resumed on Thursday, scoring two runs in the eighth inning and four runs in the top of the ninth. But leading off the bottom of the ninth, Bethel's Grant Anderson hit a walkoff homer to left field to give the Royals the win.
• An RBI double by Duffy and an RBI single by Livermore began the Auggie rally in the top of the eighth inning.
• Augsburg sent eight batters to the plate in the ninth inning, scoring four runs on three hits. Julkowski and Duffy had RBI singles, and Hebig and Livermore drove in runs on fielder's choices.
• Gordon Kappers (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) had three hits for the Auggies in the second game, scoring two runs. Buescher, Pruszinske, Duffy and Livermore had two hits each for the Auggies, with Pruszinske and Julkowski scoring two runs. FOR THE FOES• Bethel had just five hits in the first game, with its lone run coming in the first inning, as Matt Conrad hit an RBI single.
• Joe Zorn struck out eight while not walking a batter in seven innings of pitching in the second game.• Matt Conrad hit two doubles for the Royals, with Bret Neuville and Esteban Velasco also hitting doubles.
• Velasco drove in four runs for Bethel, with a sacrifice fly in the second inning and a three-run double in the third inning.
• Anderson had three hits for the Royals in the second game, including his game-winning homer.
