Auggies remain unbeaten with 9-0 triumph

MANKATO, Minn. -- With 12 different players figuring in the scoring and 22 players seeing game action, the Augsburg College women's soccer team remained unbeaten with a 9-0 win over Bethany Lutheran College in a nonconference contest on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Seven different Auggies scored goals in the contest, with Marta Anderson (JR, Mankato, Minn./Mankato East HS) and Kaitlyn Terrio (JR, Andover, Minn./Anoka HS) scoring two goals each. Anderson scored the first two goals for the Auggies in the opening 7:21 of play, and added an assist on the third goal of the game, scored by Marie Fitzgerald (SR, Fort Atkinson, Wis.).

• Nora Edelen (FY, Middleton, Wis.), Anne Haugan (FY, Malvik, Norway), Kate Johnston (FY, Missoula, Mont./Hellgate HS) and Megan Willey (FY, Andover, Minn.) also scored goals for the Auggies, with Willey adding an assist. Emily Gregg (JR, River Falls, Wis.), Ashley Waalen (JR, Amery, Wis.), Morgan Kenny (JR, Wauwatosa, Wis./Brookfield Central HS), Molly Lamovec (JR, Eden Prairie, Minn.) and Kealie Espinda Banick (FY, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) added assists.
• Augsburg outshot Bethany Lutheran by a 31-6 margin, including a 21-1 advantage in the first half, as Augsburg built a 5-0 lead. Lucy Bukowski (SR, Two Harbors, Minn.) had four saves in goal in 71 minutes, with Jessy Wiskofske (FY, Wausau, Wis./Wausau West HS) playing the final 19 minutes in relief.


BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg has outscored its first three nonconference opponents -- ranked second (Minnesota-Morris), third (Northwestern-St. Paul) and fourth (Bethany Lutheran) in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll -- by a 22-0 margin. Augsburg topped Northwestern 8-0 last Tuesday in the season-opener and UM-Morris 5-0 on Sunday.
• Augsburg has now outshot its opponents by a 110-13 margin this season, including a 60-8 advantage in shots on-goal. The Auggies also have recorded 26 corner kicks to their opponents' five.

• Nicole Moldstad, Lindsey Stewart, Taylor Friehl and Sarah Paul had shots for the Vikings.
• Averi Cash recorded seven saves in goal, with Rachel Heidorn collecting two saves.
