DULUTH, Minn. -- The Augsburg College women's basketball team used a season-best 49.2 percent shooting effort to top the College of St. Scholastica 84-69 in nonconference action on Sunday afternoon at Reif Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg never trailed by more than one and led by as many as many as 23 points in the contest. The Auggies shot a blistering 56.3 percent (18-of-32) in the first half, which included a 53.9 percent (7-of-13) performance from three-point range.
• Augsburg took a 47-33 lead into the locker room at the half and never looked back, cruising to its fifth straight victory to open the season.

K'Aezha Wubben (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS) led the Auggies with a game-high 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor, while adding six assists and five rebounds.

Aiza Wilson (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) recorded a 3-of-4 shooting performance from beyond the arc, finishing with 13 points, three assist and three rebounds.
• Pulling down a team-high six rebounds was
Bridget Bednar (JR, Pierz, Minn.), who added 11 points and a game-high five steals.
• Also finishing in double-figures for the Auggies were
Arianna Jones (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) and
Camryn Speese (FY, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS), who finished with 11 and 10 points respectively.
• The Auggies claimed a key 29-12 advantage in points off-turnovers, while claiming a 15-24 advantage in the turnover battle.
• The Augsburg defense picked up 16 steals on the afternoon, its fourth time recording 12-plus steals in its five games so far.
• For the game, Augsburg connected on a season-best 49.2 percent (30-of-61) from the field, including an 11-of-23 effort from three-point range -- its fourth game with double-digit three-point field-goal totals this season. St. Scholastica hit 44.1 percent (26-of-59) from the field, but only hit 33.3 percent (3-of-9) from beyond the arc.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The 5-0 start for the Augsburg women's basketball team is believed to be the best start in program history in the post-Title IX era.
• The Auggies 82.6 points per-game average is currently tops among Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams in overall statistics.
FOR THE FOES
• Sam Brannen led the Saints with a game-high 21 points, hitting 8-of-15 from the field, while adding six rebounds and an assist.
• Michala Walther also finished in double figures for St. Scholastica, scoring 11 points with four assists and three rebounds.
