MINNEAPOLIS -- With eight different players scoring goals and 13 different players figuring in the scoring, the Augsburg College men's hockey team claimed an 8-4 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Superior in a nonconference contest on Thursday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg broke open the game in the second period, scoring four goals to take a 7-3 lead into the second intermission. The Auggies also shined on special teams, going 3-for-7 on the power play and adding a shorthanded goal.

Luke Dietsch (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS),
Eli May (JR, Eagan, Minn.),
Trevor Stewart (SR, Highlands Ranch, Colo./Eastmont HS) and
Evan Hesse (JR, Monticello, Minn./Palmer (Alaska) HS) had a goal and assist each for the Auggies.
Rory Vesel (SR, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS) had four assists and
Max Pernhem (JR, Stockholm, Sweden/Dragonskolan) had two assists.
• After surrendering a goal just 2:18 into the game,
Eric Brenk (SO, Moorhead, Minn.) and Stewart scored later in the first period to give the Auggies a 2-1 lead. The Yellowjackets tied the game just 27 seconds after Augsburg scored its second goal, but
Nate Flynn (JR, Hastings, Minn.) gave the Auggies the lead to stay with a power-play marker with 1:08 left in the period.
• Hesse scored on a shorthanded breakaway goal 2:29 into the second period to spark the Auggie four-goal period, with goals from
Drew Anderson (JR, Rochester, Minn./Century HS),
Andy Faust (JR, Stillwater, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) and May following. Dietsch capped the scoring for the Auggies with a power-play goal in the third period.
• Augsburg outshot UW-Superior by a 33-32 margin in the game. Dietsch had five shots on-goal in the game, with Anderson, Flynn and Hesse adding four shots each.

Jordyn Kaufer (SR, Stillwater, Minn.) had 28 saves in goal for the Auggies.
FOR THE FOES
• Jared Dedenbach claimed a three-goal hat trick for UW-Superior -- the Yellowjackets' third hat trick in as many games this season -- with Daniel Litchke adding the team's other goal in the game. Jerry Miettunen had two assists.
• Ethan Wood had 11 saves in goal for UW-Superior before being relieved by Bryce Fink midway through the game. Fink had 14 saves.
