MINNEAPOLIS -- Scoring 35 unanswered points, including 27 in the second half, the Bethel University football team pulled away to claim a 62-27 win over Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Edor Nelson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The game was a back-and-forth shootout in the first half, with Bethel leading 35-27 at the break. But Bethel scored 27 straight points in the second half, scoring on four straight drives to pull away from the host Auggies.
• Bethel outgained the Auggies by a 534-372 margin in the game, including a 273-105 advantage in the second half. The Royals also forced three Augsburg turnovers in the second half, two of which were converted to touchdowns. The Royals also forced three turnovers in the first half, with two leading to scores.

Tiras Bolton (JR, Omaha, Neb./Omaha Westside HS) scored twice for Augsburg, on a 1-yard run in the first quarter and on a 49-yard touchdown reception from
Shannon Storley (SO, Waconia, Minn.) in the second quarter. He caught four passes for 86 yards and rushed 13 times for 13 net yards. Bolton also threw a halfback-option pass for a touchdown, a 30-yarder to
Nick Heenie (SO, Victoria, Minn./Waconia HS) in the first quarter.

Jordan Gallegos (SR, Medera, Calif.) scored on a fake punt in the second quarter, taking the direct snap and rushing 70 yards for the score. It was one of two fake punts converted by the Auggies in the first half, which also included a successful onside kick.
• Heenie caught six passes for 92 yards, while
Cyrus Elliott (SR, Baldwin, Wis./Baldwin-Woodville HS) caught four passes for 37 yards and
Nahjai Brown (JR, Roseville, Minn.) caught three passes for 42 yards.
• Storley completed 14-of-26 passes for 156 yards, while
Quentin Lake (FY, Portland, Ore./Lincoln HS) completed 7-of-16 passes for 95 yards.

Glenn Meyers (JR, Blaine, Minn.) had one of his best punting days as an Auggie, with a 45.0-yard average on five punts, with a long of 59 yards. He also threw a successful pass for a 24-yard gain on a fake punt.
• Defensively,
Barclay Bates (SO, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) had 10 tackles (four solo), while
Lorenzo Hernandez (SO, New Ulm, Minn.) had nine tackles and a fumble recovery.
Isiah Malone (Jr, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Park Center HS) had eight tackles (five solo), while
Jabri Guy (SO, Moline, Ill./Eagan (Minn.) HS) had eight tackles (three solo) and a sack.
FOR THE FOES
• Gunnar Bloom rushed 24 times for 188 yards and two touchdowns -- a 50-yard run in the third quarter and seven-yard run in the fourth quarter. Brady Bomsta rushed nine times for 3 yards and two touchdowns -- a two-yard run in the second quarter and three-yard run in the third quarter.
• Jake Marsh completed 13-of-17 passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns -- a 32-yarder to Drew Neuville, a 16-yard pass to Bryce Marquardt and a 53-yard pass to Jon Pytlak. Marquardt caught four passes for 72 yards, and Neuville caught four passes for 58 yards.
• Dawson Brown scored on a 22-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter.
• Josh Dalki had eight tackles (four solo), with 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and fumble recovery, and Andrew Ragsdale had seven tackles (one solo). Steven Plockner had two sacks and a fumble recovery.
