ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Augsburg College softball team closed out its 2016 season as they hosted Saint Mary's University for a conference doubleheader on the campus of University of Nothwestern-St. Paul. Five Augsburg seniors --
Ashley Anfinson (SR, Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS),
Sarah Buckner (SR, Duluth, Minn./East HS),
Lauren Hurley (SR, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS),
Mindy Nguyen (SR, Austin, Minn./Pacelli HS),
Jenna Orth (SR, Melrose, Minn.) -- played their last game in an Augsburg uniform as the team honored them after the doubleheader with gifts and some heartfelt words from teammates.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• The Auggies and Cardinals combined for 21 hits in game one of the doubleheader with Saint Mary's tallying 13 as they scored in every inning except for the first.

Brianna Cline (SO, St. Clair, Minn.) led the Auggies with two hits, and an RBI. Cline finished the 2016 season fifth in the conference in batting average (.415).

Haley Larson (SO, Shakopee, Minn./Prior Lake HS) went 2-for-3, while
Meghan Springborn (SO, Oakdale, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran),
Taylor Mattice (SO, Woodbury, Minn./Centennial HS), and
Amanda Niznik (JR, Columbia Heights, Minn.) each finished with one hit and one RBI.

Samantha Anderson (FY, Coon Rapids, Minn.) threw 3.0 innings and allowed three runs on six hits, then was relieved by
Courtney Larsen (SO, Little Canada, Minn./Concordia Academy HS) for the final 4.0 innings who allowed six runs on seven hits.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Saint Mary's opened up the scoring in the first inning with two runs, then the Auggies rallid for one in the bottom of the frame.
• The Cardinals added one in the third, two more in the fourth and their sixth and final run in the seventh.

Amanda Niznik (JR, Columbia Heights, Minn.) finished 1-for-3, with an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the fourth to score
Anna Podewils (FY, Burnsville, Minn./DeLaSalle HS).
• Orth finished game two 1-for-3 with a runs scored, while Larson also went 1-for-3.
• Mattice finished 1-for-2, and Springborn went 0-for-3 with an RBI.
• Carrisa Struve started game two for the Auggies as she pitched 3.2 innings allowing five runs on six hits, and Anderson relieved her throwing the final 3.1 innings, allowing one run on two hits.
• Anderson struck out one batter in the first game and five in the second for a single season total and Augsburg record of 157.
