MEQUON, Wis. -- The Augsburg College women's lacrosse team's third season came to an end on Friday with a 22-16 loss to Aurora University in a Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference playoff semifinal game at Concordia University-Wisconsin.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg tied the game at 10-10 with 25 seconds left to go in the first half, but an Aurora goal with 12 seconds left in the period sparked a run of seven straight goals for the Spartans. The Auggies could not cut the lead under five goals the rest of the way.

Delaney Everett (SO, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Champlin Park HS) and
Ashley Pettipiece (SO, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) scored three goals and had an assist each to lead the Auggies. Everett had four draw controls and a caused turnover, and Pettipiece had two ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover.

Izzy Snow (FY, Golden Valley, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) and
Shelby Brion (SR, Clearwater, Minn./Monticello HS) had two goals and an assist each. Snow had a ground ball and draw control, and Brion had a ground ball and caused turnover.

Helena Nguyen (SO, Maple Grove, Minn.),
Dezera Sieracki (JR, Wyoming, Minn./Centennial HS) and
Becky Genzler (FY, Farmington, Minn.) scored a goal with an assist each. Nguyen had two caused turnovers, a ground ball and draw control and Sieracki had a draw control.

Sheala Osborne (FY, West St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS),
Christina Nelson (FY, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) and
Lexi Halvorson (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) also scored goals, andÂ
Rachel Frantz (JR, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) had an assist. Nelson had three ground balls, two caused turnovers and a draw control. Osborne had three draw controls, Frantz had five ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover, and Halvorson had a draw control.

Marissa Guillou (SO, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) had 12 saves, 10 ground balls and three caused turnovers.
• Aurora outshot Augsburg by a 44-35 margin and had 19 draw controls to Augsburg's 16. Augsburg had 25 ground balls to Aurora's 23.
FOR THE FOES
• Kenny Hughes scored eight goals with four draw controls and a ground ball for the Spartans.
• Lauren Whitfield scored four goals with two assists, two caused turnovers and four ground balls, and Andrea Colford scored four goals with an assist, five draw controls, six ground balls and a caused turnover.
• Allee Samuel had 11 saves and two ground balls for the Spartans.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg closed its first season as an MWLC member with an 11-6 overall record, 6-3 in MWLC play. The 11 wins are the most for Augsburg in its three seasons of varsity women's lacrosse.
