MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College baseball team closed its 2016 season with a split of a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader with St. Olaf College on Saturday afternoon at Parade Stadium. St. Olaf won 14-7 in the opener, and Augsburg won 2-1 in the second game.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Trailing 8-0, the Auggies cut into the St. Olaf advantage in the fourth inning, scoring six runs and sending 11 batters to the plate. But a five-run fifth inning enabled St. Olaf to protect its lead. The Oles outhit the Auggies by a 23-13 margin in the game.

Bryce Pruszinske (SR, Savage, Minn./Burnsville HS) and
Andy Julkowski (SR, Cedar, Minn./St. Francis HS) had RBI singles in the fourth inning, and
Josh Marlowe (JR, North St. Paul, Minn.) hit a three-run double.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Trailing 1-0, Augsburg took the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With two outs, Pruszinske hit a single to left field, bringing home
Jack Duffy (JR, Fridley, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) and
Brandon Schmahl (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS).
• The game was a pitching gem for Augsburg's
Jordan Brandt (JR, Eagan, Minn.), who struck out five while walking two and allowing eight hits in 8.0 innings. He threw 105 pitches (72 strikes) and left eight St. Olaf runners on the basepaths in the game.
Steven Piette (SR, Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) retired the side in order in the ninth to pick up his fourth save of the season.

Rhett Hebig (JR, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) had two of Augsburg's seven hits in the game.

• The games were the final collegiate contests for nine Augsburg seniors, all of whom saw game action: Julkowski, Piette, Pruszinske, Schmahl,

Bryan Benson (SR, St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo HS),
R.J. Cervenka (SR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS),
Luke Chinn (SR, Burnsville, Minn.) and

• As a team, Augsburg hit .324 on the season, with eight hitters recording .300 averages or better, led by
Mike Brookshaw, who hit .415 (51-of-123).
FOR THE FOES
• Sam Stuckmayer went 4-for-5 with five RBI and two runs scored in the first game, hitting two doubles and a triple. Thomas Peterson and Joe Keiski also went 4-for-5 for the Oles in the first game.Â
• Keiski and Will Cipos had two hits each for the Oles in the second game.
• Peterson struck out three while walking two in 7.2 innings in the second game.
