STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- Augsburg College took a lead just 94 seconds into the game, but the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point used a three-goal third period to pull away from the Auggies in a 5-2 victory in a nonconference men's hockey game on Saturday evening.

But the Pointers scored twice in the second period to take the lead, then pulled away with three goals to Augsburg's one in the final stanza.

Luke Dietsch (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) gave the Auggies a 1-0 lead with a goal 1:34 into the game, assisted by
Corbin Chapman (SR, Burnsville, Minn.) and
Chris Nuth (JR, Trabuco Canyon, Calif./Mission Viejo HS).

Evan Hesse (JR, Monticello, Minn./Palmer (Alaska) HS) trimmed the Pointer lead to 3-2 with a goal at the 17:38 mark of the third period, assisted by
Jason Krych (FY, Champlin, Minn./Totino-Grace HS). But the Pointers scored two goals in the final 1:16, including an empty-net goal, to seal the victory.

Eric Brenk (SO, Moorhead, Minn.) had five shots on-goal to lead the Auggies.
