Augsburg women fall 71-64 at Bethel

ARDEN, HILLS, Minn. -- The Augsburg College women's basketball team forced a season-high 30 turnovers but wasn't able to keep up with a hot shooting Bethel University squad as they dropped a 71-64 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon at the Robertson Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg used a 10-2 run to start the second quarter and battled to a 29-29 half-time tie.
• Bethel countered with a key 13-1 run to start the fourth quarter and stretched its lead to 16, before Augsburg could rally back and cut the lead to six in the final minute. The Auggies weren't able to finish the late rally as they fell 71-64 to the Royals who has their second best shooting performance of the season (53.2 percent).
• The Augsburg offense was led by Tamira McLemore (FY, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) and K'Aezha Wubben (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS) who scored 13 points apiece. Wubben finished 9-of-11 from the free throw line and added three rebounds and a pair of steals. For the third time this season McLemore posted a game-high six steals, to add to her 13 points and five rebounds.
Bridget Bednar (JR, Pierz, Minn./Pierz HS) and Arianna Jones (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) led the Auggies on the boards with eight and seven rebounds respectively.
• Also finishing in double figures for the Auggies was Ellie Schwartz (FY, Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS), who has now scored in double figures in both of her games in an Auggie uniform. Schwartz finished with 11 points, six rebounds and a steal. 
• The Auggies claimed a 39-37 advantage on the boards and a 30-21 advantage in the turnover battle.
• For the game, Augsburg connected on 32.8 percent (22-of-67) of its shot attempts, while the Royals hit 53.2 percent (25-of-47) from the floor.

FOR THE FOES
• Bethel was led by Shanni Moorse and Taite Anderson who both finished with 13 points apiece.
• Hannah Johnson pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds and added six points and four blocked shots.
