Auggies drop 5-0 decision to UW-Eau Claire

MINNEAPOLIS -- Outshot by a 30-15 margin in the game, the Augsburg College women's hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in a nonconference contest on Saturday afternoon at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• UW-Eau Claire scored three goals in the first period and two in the second period, the most goals scored by an opponent against the Auggies this season.
Leah Patrick (SO, Hudson, Wis./Hill-Murray HS) recorded 16 saves in goal, before being relieved by Rebecca Sonnek (JR, Edina, Minn.) late in the second period. Sonnek stopped all nine shots she faced. 
Darby Lindgren (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) had four shots on-goal for Augsburg, while Jacie Hoehn (SO, Waseca, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS) had two shots.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The Auggies had its string of 31 straight kills of opponent power plays snapped, when the Blugolds scored a power-play goal at the 6:25 mark of the first period. Augsburg has now killed 52-of-55 opponent power-play opportunities this season, a .945 penalty-kill percentage that is tops among MIAC teams in overall statistics and tied for fifth-best among NCAA Division III teams nationally.
• Augsburg has allowed just 15 goals in 13 games this season. Its 1.15 goals allowed per-game is tops among MIAC teams and tied for fifth-best among NCAA Division III teams nationally.

FOR THE FOES
• Courtney Wittig and Lexi Wilson scored two goals each, while Emily Bauer had a goal and an assist. Jaedyn Walz had three assists in the game.
• Erin Connolly stopped all 15 shots she faced in goal for UW-Eau Claire.
