McLemore leads Augsburg past Occidental

PASADENA, Calif. -- Tamira McLemore (SO, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) scored a season-high 24 points to lead the Augsburg University women's basketball team to a 74-59 victory over Occidental College (Calif.) in nonconference action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg jumped out to a 17-4 first quarter lead and took a 43-19 advantage into the locker room at the half. The Auggies stretched their lead to as many as 26 points, en route to handing Occidental its first loss of the season.
• McLemore led the Auggie offense with an outstanding 24-point effort, finishing 9-of-16 from the field, and 4-for-6 from three-point range. She added six rebounds, four assists and a steal.
• Posting her first career double-double as an Auggie, Jazmyn Solseth (FY, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) recorded Augsburg career-highs in both points and rebounds, finishing with 12 points and 11 rebounds. 
• Also finishing in double figures for the Auggies was K'Aezha Wubben (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS), who finished with 12 points, while adding three assists and a pair of steals.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 41.3 percent (26-of-63) from the field, while Occidental connected on 40.0 percent (22-of-55) of its shot attempts. The Auggies claimed a 40-33 advantage on the boards and finished 7-of-21 from 3-point range, while holding Occidental to just 2-for-9 from beyond the arc.

 FOR THE FOES
• Occidental finished with three players in double figures, led by Tala Ismail, who scored 12 points on a 6-of-13 shooting afternoon.
• Emily Leonard pulled down a team-best seven boards, to go along with 10 points for the Tigers.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg returns to action on Tuesday (11/28) at 7 p.m. with an exhibition game at Division II Concordia University-St. Paul.
• Occidental returns on Saturday (12/2), when the Tigers host the University of Redlands at 4 p.m.
