MINNEAPOLIS --
Collin Olmscheid (JR, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Augsburg College men's basketball team to an important 88-71 victory over Saint Mary's University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Monday at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After an evenly matched first half, Augsburg used a 21-6 run over a 6:55 span midway through the second half to break the game open. The Auggies stretched their lead to as many as 19 before going on to claim the win.
• Augsburg used a balanced scoring attack, finishing with five players in double figures. Olmscheid paced the Auggies with a game-high 25 points and nine rebounds, while adding two steals and a blocked shot. Olmscheid currently ranks second in the MIAC in scoring average (19.9 ppg) and has scored 20-plus points 13 times this season.

Richie Perea (SR, Colorado Springs, Colo./Wasson HS) led the Auggies with four assists and three steals, while posting 13 points. Perea finished 7-of-8 from the free-throw line and added three rebounds.

Kevin McKiernan (SO, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS), finished with 12 points on a 4-for-8 shooting performance, including 2-of-2 from three-point range.
• Also scoring in double figures for the Auggies was Chuckie Smith (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) and
Nick Sabatke (JR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS), who finished with 10 points apiece. Smith and Sabatke combined to shoot 7-of-10 from the field, while Sabatke pulled down a season-high eight rebounds.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 48.3 percent (29-of-60) from the field, while Saint Mary's converted on 50.9 percent (27-of-53) of its shot attempts. The Auggies posted a 34-31 advantage on the boards and a 15-7 advantage in both points off turnovers and second chance points.
• The Auggies were able to convert 23-of-30 from the charity stripe, while the Cardinals were only able to hit 10-of-16.
FOR THE FOES
• Saint Mary's was led by Quashingm Smith-Pugh, who posted the lone double-double of the night, a 10-point, 10-rebound effort, which included a block and an assist.
• Wylie Ferron and Aaron Romportl also finished in double figures for the Cardinals, scoring 14 and 12 points respectively.

• The Auggies return to action on Wednesday (2/15) at 7 p.m., hosting Macalester College at Si Melby Hall.
