Eric Brenk (SO, Moorhead, Minn.) and
Luke Dietsch (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) scored two goals apiece in Augsburg College's 5-1 win over Saint John's University on Friday night, keeping the Auggies in a tie for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey lead with St. Thomas entering the final game of the regular season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Corbin Chapman (SR, Burnsville, Minn.) had a goal and two assists, andÂ
Nate Flynn (JR, Hastings, Minn.) had three assists for Augsburg in the victory, which clinched no worse than a second-place finish for the Auggies in the MIAC regular-season standings.
• Dietsch opened the scoring for the Auggies with a goal 46 seconds into the second period, assisted by Flynn and Chapman. Brenk then put the Auggies up 2-0 with a power-play goal at the 17:59 mark, assisted by
Evan Hesse (JR, Monticello, Minn./Palmer (Alaska) HS).
• The Auggies surrendered a power-play goal early in the third period, then erupted with three goals to close out the victory. Chapman scored from Flynn at the 8:32 mark, Dietsch scored a power-play goal from Chapman and Flynn at the 14:37 mark, and Brenk capped the scoring with an unassisted, empty-net goal with 1:29 remaining.
• Saint John's outshot Augsburg by a 38-30 margin in the game, but Auggie goalieÂ
Nick Schmit (SO, Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) collected 37 saves to pick up the win, improving to 8-1-2 on the season.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• With the win, Augsburg clinched a home semifinal game in the five-team MIAC postseason playoffs, which will be held next Saturday (2/25) at Ed Saugestad Rink. The Auggies have 33 league points, tied with St. Thomas (10-3-2 MIAC, 12-7-5 overall) for the conference lead. The Tommies scored a 4-3 overtime win over Hamline on Friday night, and travel to face Hamline on Saturday (2/18). Should the teams tie for the MIAC regular-season title on Saturday, Augsburg would receive the No. 1 seed in the MIAC playoffs, due to its win and tie over the Tommies last weekend.
• Augsburg extended its unbeaten streak to nine straight games (5-0-4) overall, and 11 straight games (6-0-5) over MIAC opponents.
• Flynn's team-leading 26 points (14 goals, 12 assists) are fourth-mostÂ
among MIAC players in overall statistics. His 14 goals are tied for third-most among MIAC players, and he now has 14 points (eight goals, six assists) in his last nine games.
• Brenk claimed his second straight two-goal game and his fourth two-goal effort in his last seven games. He now has 10 goals and four assists for 14 points in his last eight games.
• Schmit leads the MIAC in all three goalie categories, with a 1.83 goals against-average, .940 save percentage and .818 winning percentage.
• Augsburg has outscored its opponents by an 96-61 margin, with its 96 goals the most among MIAC teams in overall statistics, and the 61 goals allowed the fewest among MIAC teams.

• Robb Stautz scored the Johnnies' lone goal of the game, a power-play goal from Sam Valerius and Kyle Wagner at the 2:17 mark of the third period.
