MINNEAPOLIS -- In her final regular-season home game,
Callen Naasz (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) scored two goals and added two assists, as her Augsburg College women's hockey team clinched a home semifinal game in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs with a 6-1 win over the College of Saint Benedict on Friday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg scored twice in a 2:00 span late in the first period to take the lead, and after surrendering a goal a minute into the second period, scored four straight goals to claim the impressive victory.
• Naasz scored a power-play goal from
Danielle Heitkamp (SR, Bismarck, N.D./Grand Rapids (Minn.) HS) at the 11:18 mark of the second period, then notched her team-leading 11th goal of the season, an even-strength goal from
Darby Lindgren (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS), at the 9:06 mark of the third period.

Bridget Wagner (FY, Niles, Ill./Maine South HS) opened the scoring with a goal from Naasz and
Megan Robertson (JR, Boissevain, Manitoba) at the 16:01 mark of the first period, and
Bridget Walter (SO, Princeton, Minn.) gave the Auggies a 2-0 lead two minutes later, scoring from
Hollywood Hermanson (FY, Dover, Minn./Dover-Eyota HS).

Ashley Kloncz (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) took the opening faceoff of the third period from Naasz and scored eight seconds into the final frame, and
Emily Ach (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) capped the scoring with a goal at the 13:40 mark, assisted by Walter and Robertson.
• Augsburg dominated the game from start to finish, outshooting the Blazers by a 42-16 margin, including a 13-3 advantage in the third period.

Rebecca Sonnek (JR, Edina, Minn.) improved to 14-6-0 on the season with a 15-save effort in goal for the Auggies.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• With the win, Augsburg clinched a finish of no worse than second in the MIAC standings, securing a home MIAC playoff semifinal game next Saturday (2/25) at Ed Saugestad Rink. Entering the final game of the regular season this Saturday (2/18), the Auggies have 26 league points, a point behind Gustavus' 27 (12-2-3 MIAC, 16-5-3 overall). The Gusties blanked Hamline 3-0 on Friday.
• Naasz, Heitkamp and Kloncz all played in their 100th career games on Friday, bringing to 11 the total number of Auggies who have reached the 100-game plateau (varsity opponents only) in Augsburg women's hockey history. Naasz now has 30 goals (ninth in school history) and 40 assists (fifth) for 70 points (tied for seventh) in her career, while Kloncz has 21 goals and 31 assists for 52 points, and Heitkamp has 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points.
• The game was the final regular-season home game for five Auggie seniors -- Naasz, Heitkamp, Kloncz,
Darby Lindgren (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) and
Savannah Seeger (SR, Rochester, Minn./John Marshall HS). Lindgren has 25 goals and 23 assists for 48 points in 92 career games, while Seeger has three goals and three assists for six points in 94 career games.
FOR THE FOES
• Allison Kirk scored the lone goal of the game for Saint Benedict, a power-play marker from Elli Marvin 58 seconds into the second period.
• Julia Carle had 36 saves in goal for Saint Benedict.
