BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The 10-round shootout is the second-longest in the four seasons that the MIAC has used shootouts in men's hockey. The longest was a 12-round shootout between St. Olaf and Concordia-Moorhead on Feb. 6, 2015 (St. Olaf won 3-2).
• With the draw, Augsburg, ranked No. 10 in the latest USCHO.com Division III national poll, now sits in a second-place tie with 26 points, joining Hamline (10-8-5 overall, 7-4-3 MIAC) and Saint Mary's (12-8-3 overall, 8-5-1 MIAC), all two points behind league-leader St. Thomas' 28 points (11-6-4 overall, 9-2-1 MIAC). The Tommies are Augsburg's next opponent in a series next weekend.
• Augsburg and Hamline played to overtime shootouts in all three meetings this season. Augsburg claimed a 1-0 shootout win in three rounds in a 2-2 draw on Oct. 28 at the MIAC Showcase in Blaine, Minn., and Hamline scored a 2-0 shootout win in a 4-4 tie last night at Oscar Johnson Arena in St. Paul, Minn.
• Augsburg has now played five overtime shootouts this season, with a 2-3 record in those shootouts.
• Vesel now has a team-best 16 assists this season, standing fourth in assists among MIAC players in overall statistics. His 16 assists are second-most among conference defenders, and his 19 points (one goal, 16 assists) are third-most among defenders.
