MINNEAPOLIS --
Richie Perea (SR, Colorado Springs, Colo./Wasson HS) and
Collin Olmscheid (JR, Buffalo, Minn.) teamed up to lead the Augsburg College men's basketball team to an 82-76 victory over Saint John's University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening at Sexton Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After trailing 39-36 at the half, Augsburg started the second frame with an 11-2 run. The Auggies were able to extend their lead to as many as 12 with 6:33 remaining.
• St. John's cut the Augsburg lead to four points on three occasions in the final 2:19 of play, but on each, the Auggies answered with points on their next possession as Augsburg earned the hard-fought win.
• Olmscheid led the Auggies with his sixth double-double of the season, posting 29 points and 12 rebounds. Olmscheid finished 12-of-19 from the field and added an assist, playing all 40 minutes of action. Olmscheid currently ranks in the top three in the conference in points (2nd, 20.3 ppg), rebounds (2nd, 8.0 rpg) and minutes per-game (3rd, 34.6 mpg)
• Perea scored a career-high 22 points in the game, which included an incredible 20-point first-half effort, where he connected on 8-of-9 from the field and 4-of-5 from three-point range. Perea added three rebounds and three assists on the night.
• Also scoring in double figures for the Auggies was
Kevin McKiernan (SO, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS), who scored 13 points, which included a 9-of-10 effort from the free-throw line.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 50.0 percent (27-of-53) from the field, while the Johnnies converted on 50.9 percent (27-of-53) of their shot attempts. The Johnnies claimed 31-26 advantage on the boards.
• The Auggies tied a season low with five turnovers, while creating a 17-8 advantage in points off turnovers.
• Augsburg hit 19-of-22 from the free-throw line, while St. John's converted on 15-of-19.
FOR THE FOES
• Saint John's was led offensively by Jubie Alade who came off the bench to score a career-high 30 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor.
• Tyler Weiss led the Johnnies on the boards, pulling down a team-best nine rebounds, while adding 20 points and five assists.

• The Auggies return to action on Saturday (2/11) at 3 p.m., when they host Bethel University in a women's-men's doubleheader.
