MINNEAPOLIS --
Megan Robertson (JR, Boissevain, Manitoba) and
Darby Lindgren (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) scored goals for Augsburg College, but the University of St. Thomas claimed victory with a goal in the third period and another at the 3:02 mark of overtime, as the Tommies scored a 3-2 triumph over the Auggies in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey playoff championship game on Saturday afternoon at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After giving up a power-play goal just 3:14 into play, Augsburg tied the game at the 9:18 mark of the first period, as Robertson scored on a break, taking an assist from
Valerie Whichello (SO, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS).
• The Auggies went ahead on Lindgren's 10th goal of the season, a marker with 1:04 left in the second period, assisted by
Callen Naasz (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) and
Bridget Wagner (FY, Niles, Ill./Maine South HS).
• The Tommies tied the game with a goal 7:13 into the third period, and claimed the victory with a rebound goal by Allison Parnell at the 3:02 mark of overtime.
• Augsburg outshot St. Thomas by a 38-36 margin. Goalie
Rebecca Sonnek (JR, Edina, Minn.) collected 33 saves for the Auggies.
• Augsburg was unable to take advantage of player-advantage situations, as the Auggies went 0-for-10 on the power play in the game.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• With the win, St. Thomas, the No. 4 seed in the MIAC playoffs, captured the conference postseason title for the fourth straight year and fifth time in school history. The Tommies will receive the MIAC's automatic bid to the eight-team NCAA Division III national playoffs.
• Augsburg, ranked No. 9 in the most recent USCHO.com Division III national rankings, has a chance at one of the Pool C "at-large" bids to the national tournament. The tourney field will be revealed in an
online selection show on Monday (3/6) at 9 a.m. Central time on the NCAA.com website.
FOR THE FOES
• Allie Borgstrom gave the Tommies an early lead with a power-play goal from Kathryn Larson at the 3:14 mark of the first period.
• Larson tied the game at 2-2 with a goal from Kaylee Druk at the 7:13 mark of the third period, and Parnell gave the Tommies the overtime win with a goal from Leah Schwartzman and Erika Bjorkman.
• Mackenzie Torpy had 36 saves in goal for St. Thomas.
