MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College softball team split with Gustavus Adolphus College on Wednesday afternoon in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference softball doubleheader at Edor Nelson Field, losing 3-2 and winning 3-0.

THE BASICS
SCORES: Gustavus 3, Augsburg 2; Gustavus 0, Augsburg 3
LOCATION: Edor Nelson Field, Minneapolis, Minn.
RECORD: Augsburg 14-10 overall (2-4 MIAC), Gustavus Adolphus 14-8 overall (2-24 MIAC)

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg put together a sixth-inning rally, scoring two runs, to nearly complete the late comeback. Haley Larson (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Prior Lake HS) reached base on a fielder's choice. Nell Gerhke (FY, Northfield, Minn.) came in to pinch run for Larson and the bases were loaded following a walk by Katie Parker (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS). With two outs, a Gustavus error allowed Amanda Niznik (SR, Columbia Heights, Minn.) to reach first base, scoring Parker and Gerhke, while Dale advanced to second base, but the Auggies couldn't get Dale around as a groundout ended the inning.
• Augsburg put runners on first and third in the bottom of the seventh, but left both stranded as a strike out ended the inning.
Courtney Larsen (SR, Little Canada, Minn.) was the starting pitcher for the Auggies, while Samantha Anderson (SO, Coon Rapids, Minn.) came into the game in the fifth inning and held the Gusties scoreless for the remainder of the game.
• The Gusties scored two runs in the third inning before Rachel Malo hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to round out the scoring for Gustavus.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Anderson pitched her third shutout of the season, holding the Gusties to one hit in the game.
• Augsburg scored two runs the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead. Carly Dropik (SO, Alexandria, Minn.) singled to right field, then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Anesia King (FY, Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS). Parker then hit a single to move Dropik to third. Larson singled to right, scoring Dropik, while Parker advanced to third. Parker then scored on a wild pitch to put the Auggie up 2-0.
• In the third inning, Parker doubled to center field, then stole third. Anderson and Larson both picked up singles in the inning as Parker came around to score. Parker went 3-for-3 in the game, scoring two of the Auggies three runs.
