Volleyball falls to St. Olaf 3-2

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The Augsburg University volleyball team struggled to find its offensive rhythm and fell 3-2 to St. Olaf College in the Auggies' Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season-opener on Wednesday evening.

RECORDS: Augsburg 7-2 overall (0-1 MIAC), St. Olaf 8-2 overall (1-0 MIAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg was able to record a season-high 198 attack attempts in its second five-set match of the season, but unfortunately committed a season-high 36 attack errors. The Auggies posted their second-best dig performance of the season, recording 87 team digs on the night, while recording a season-high 13 team blocks.
• Defensively, Macey Terhell (JR, Osceola, Wis./Osceola HS) led the way with a season-best 29 digs, while Taylor Linn (SR, Shoreview, Minn/Mounds View HS) and Tayah Barnes (FY, Preston Minn./Fillmore Central HS) posted 17 and 16 digs respectively.
• Corrina Evans (FY, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) led the Augsburg attack with a team-best 13 kills, while adding a career-high seven block assists to go along with three digs. Ellie Schwartz (SO, Woodbury, Minn.,/Hill Murray) and Jordan Weeding (SR, Greenfield, Minn./Rockford HS) added nine kills apiece. 
• Continuing her strong season, Morgan Malley (JR, Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) recorded 39 assists, to go along with eight kills and eight digs.

FOR THE FOES
• Lauren Rewers had an outstanding night for the Oles, posting a match-high 21 kills, while Alison Curry and Summer Reid added 11 and 10 kills respectively.
• Three St. Olaf players finished with 20-plus digs, led by Haley Langeslag, who recorded 29.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg returns to action on Friday (9/15) at 7:30 p.m., when the Auggies travel to Waverly, Iowa to take on Wartburg College.
