NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The Augsburg University men's hockey team held a 2-1 lead after two periods, but St. Olaf College scored three goals in the final frame to claim a 4-3 triumph over the visiting Auggies in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• St. Olaf opened the scoring with a power-play goal, but Augsburg scored twice to take a 2-1 advantage later in the opening frame.
Austin Martinsen (FY, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) scored his second goal of the season at the 5:37 mark, assisted by
Nate Flynn (SR, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) and
Luke Dietsch (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS), and
Lukas Gillett (JR, Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS) scored a power-play goal from
Tommy Carey (FY, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) and
Chandler Madry (JR, Bakersfield, Calif./Fairbanks (Alaska) BEST HS) at the 16:28 mark.

Eli May (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) gave Augsburg a 3-2 lead at the 9:42 mark of the third period, assisted by Madry.
• Augsburg outshot St. Olaf by a 40-38 margin in the game. Flynn,
Max Pernhem (SR, Stockholm, Sweden/Dragonskolan) and
Matt Nehls (FY, Boulder, Colo./D.C. West HS) had five shots on-goal each for the Auggies.
• Daniil Gerasimov (FY, Moscow, Russia/State School 1944), making his second collegiate start in goal, had 34 saves for the Auggies.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• With his assist, Flynn moved into sole possession of the lead among
MIAC players in overall statistics with 23 points (12 goals, 11 assists).
• Madry's 17 assists this season gives him the MIAC overall lead in assists. He's also tied for second among league players with 22 points (five goals, 17 assists).
• Despite the loss, Augsburg remains in the lead in the MIAC standings with 24 league points, two ahead of second-place St. Thomas (22 points) and three ahead of Gustavus and Saint John's, both with 21 points.
FOR THE FOES
• Gordon Wells scored two goals for St. Olaf, a power-play goal at the 3:15 mark of the first period and a goal that tied the game at 3-3 at the 10:52 mark of the third period.
• Drew Otto scored a power-play goal at the 6:38 mark of the third period, and assisted on the game-winning goal, scored by Tobias Gabrielsen with 1:12 left in the game.
• Eric Hancock had 37 saves in goal for St. Olaf.
